The Houston Apollos joined the C.H.L. for the 1965/66 season having played the season before in Omaha. The Apollos played for 4 years before they suspended operations following the 1968/69 season. The Montreal Canadians, the Apollos parent team, were dissatisfied with their four year operation in Houston. Poor attendance, lack of good scheduling dates in Sam Houston Coliseum, and almost no available practice time in their own rink all contributed to Montreal moving their farm team operations to the American Hockey League. Team colors were red, white, and blue but customized in old Houston Astro's colorway
