On Mar. 12, 1903, The New York franchise is approved as a member of the American League. The team will play in a hastily constructed, all-wood park at 168th Street and Broadway. Because the site is one of the highest spots in Manhattan, the club will be known as the "Highlanders" and their home field "Hilltop Park."

1970's Vintage Pete Rose Customized Estate LA Fitted

On July 14, 1970, in brand new Riverfront Stadium (opened just two weeks earlier), Rose was involved in one of the most famous plays in All-Star history. Leading off against California's Clyde Wright in the 12th inning, Rose reached first and went to second on a single by the Dodgers' Billy Grabarkewitz. The Cubs’ Jim Hickman then singled sharply to center. Amos Otis' throw went passed Ray Fosse Rose barreled over Indians catcher Ray Fosse to score the winning run. It has been written that Fosse suffered a separated shoulder in the collision, but it went undiagnosed initially. Fosse continued to hit for average (he finished the season at .307), but with diminished power — he had 16 homers before the break but only two after. He played through the 1979 season, but never approached his first-year numbers. The collision also caused Rose to miss three games with a bruised knee. Fosse did not miss any games immediately after the incident. As can be seen in a replay of the event, Rose initially intended to slide headfirst; but when Fosse blocked the plate prior to the throw reaching home, Rose came back up and knocked Fosse out of the way, clearing his path to home as the throw went by.

Zulu Cannibal Giants Estate LA Custom Fitted

The Zulu Cannibal Giants were an African American baseball team (they referred to themselves as a Baseball "Zulu Tribe", based on a concept inspired by the war in Ethiopia) formed in 1938 by Charlie Henry in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Zulu Cannibal Giants gained notoriety for their propensity to turn a baseball game into a comedy performance, much in the same way that the Harlem Globetrotters did with basketball many years later. The Zulu Cannibal Giants decorated their faces and bodies with African tribal paint, went shirtless, wore only grass skirts, used special custom-made baseball bats crafted to supposedly resemble Ethiopian war clubs, and always played barefoot.

Although the team was extremely popular with the public, some black athletes disapproved of the Cannibals because of the stereotype.

At some point in their career they were managed by New York promoter Syd Pollock, who also managed a similar novelty team called the Indianapolis Clowns (also known as the Cincinnati Clowns, and the Ethiopian Clowns).

Popularly regarded as a Negro League team, they technically were not accepted members of the formal league.

The Canaries played their home games at Newington Park in Baltimore, Maryland. They played under five different managers in their three seasons, winning 78 games and losing 79.

LA Dons Custom Fitted Cap

The Los Angeles Dons were an American football team in the now defunct All-America Football Conference from 1946 - 1949 that played in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
For most of their existence, the Dons compiled an average record, and never qualified for the AAFC playoffs. The Dons' high points were their two victories over the Cleveland Browns. (The Browns won all four AAFC titles and amassed a four-year record of 52-4-3 which included a perfect season. Their dominance is generally considered the biggest reason why the AAFC folded.) Unlike the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and Baltimore Colts, the Dons were not one of the AAFC teams that remained intact when the AAFC merged with the National Football League in 1950: they merged with the crosstown Rams of the older league after the 1949 season.
One Dons player, William Radovich, formerly of the NFL Detroit Lions, filed a lawsuit against the NFL after being blacklisted from playing or working in it afterwards. It led to the Supreme Court ruling that professional football, unlike baseball, was subject to antitrust laws.

1939 Cleveland Indians Custom Fitted

The Indians were a middling team by the 1930s, finishing third or fourth most years. 1936 brought Cleveland a new superstar in 17-year old picher Bob Feller, who came from Iowa with a dominating fastball. That season, Feller set a record with 17 strikeouts in a single game and went on to lead the league in strikeouts from 1938–1941. By 1940, Feller, along with Ken Keltner, Mel Harder and Lou Boudreau led the Indians to within one game of the pennant. However, the team was wracked with dissension, with some players (including Feller and Mel Harder) going so far as to request that Bradley fire manager Ossie Vitt. Reporters lampooned them as the Cleveland Crybabies.[31] Feller, who had pitched a no-hitter to open the season and won 27 games, lost the final game of the season to unknown pitcher Floyd Giebell of the Detroit Tigers. Baltimore Bullets Custom Fitted

In the late 1960s, the Bullets drafted two future Hall of Famers,: Earl Monroe, 1967 draft, #2 overall and Wes Unseld, 1968 draft, #2 overall. The team improved dramatically, from 36 wins the previous season to 57 in the 1968-69 season, and Unseld received both the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards. The Bullets reached the playoffs with high expectations to go further, but they were eliminated by the New York Knicks in the first round. The next season the two teams met again in the first round, and although this one went to 7 games, the Knicks emerged victorious again.

Edmonton Drillers Custom Fitted

The NASL edition of the club was brought to the city by Peter Pocklington during the peak of the league's success, which was in turn built upon the previous success of Brian Rice's Edmonton Black Gold (1978). The Drillers played from 1979 to 1982, helmed by Timo Liekoski. During their outdoor season, their home fields were Commonwealth Stadium and Clarke Stadium, while indoors they played at the Edmonton Coliseum. Previous to playing in Edmonton, the team was known as the Oakland Stompers, Hartford Bicentennials and Connecticut Bicentennials.

As the Edmonton Drillers, their outdoor team were characterized by a strong defensive style of play, but their indoor style was built upon a run-and-go style of attack. Attendance for the outdoor games ranged greatly from 10,000 in the early stages of the franchise to 4,000 per game in 1982. By comparison, the more successful and profitable indoor games had attendances ranging between 5000 to 7000 paying fans per game in 1981 and 1982

In 1946 the Miami Seahawk played in the All-America Football Conference. After a 3-11 season, The team was purchased by local Baltimore ownership and moved to Baltimore for the 1947 season, taking the name the Baltimore Colts in 1947.

The Saginaw Gears were a minor-league ice hockey franchise that played in the defunct International Hockey League (IHL). The Gears existed from 1972 to 1983. The Gears played their home games at Wendler Arena in the Saginaw Civic Center

The Black Fives usually refers to basketball leagues that thrived in the United States in the period between 1900 and 1940, when racial segregation was institutionalized, in which African-American players in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Pittsburgh, and later other cities, engaged in community-based and inter-city leagues and rivalries.

New York Yankees Football Custom Fitted

The New York Yankees were a professional American football team that played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1946 to 1949. The team played in Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and often played in front of sold-out crowds. They were owned by Dan Topping, who brought many of his Brooklyn football players from the National Football League to the AAFC. The team's coach was Ray Flaherty, who had coached the Washington Redskins in the early 1940s.

The Yankees appeared in the 1946 AAFC championship game, but lost to the Cleveland Browns by a score of 14-9. The same two teams appeared in the championship game the following year, with the Browns winning again 14-3.

Before the 1949 season, the Brooklyn Dodgers football team folded and merged into the Yankees, which became the Brooklyn-New York Yankees, but this was the final season of the AAFC, which then merged with the NFL. The Yankees players were divided between the New York Giants and New York Bulldogs, who returned to their Yanks (from Boston) nickname in 1950.

The Utica Devils were an ice hockey team of the American Hockey League. The team played in Utica, New York at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

The Utica Devils were the New Jersey Devils AHL affiliate until 1993. Utica was coached by Tom McVie for four season from 1987-91, followed by Herb Brooks in 1991-92, and Robbie Ftorek in 1992-93.

During 1993, the franchise was bought by the Calgary Flames, and relocated to Saint John, New Brunswick to play as the Saint John Flames.

Notable players who at one time were Utica Devils include Martin Brodeur, Bill Guerin, Kevin Todd, Corey Schwab, Bobby Holik, Claude Vilgrain, Valeri Zelepukin, Jason Smith and Jim Dowd. The team's last coach was Robbie Ftorek.

1946 Boston Red Sox Custom Fitted Cap

This cap is based off of the 1946 cap worn by the Sox in 1946. They came in first that year with a record of 104-50.

Vintage Patch California Golden Seals Fitted Cap

Before the 1970-71 NHL season, the Seals were bought by flamboyant A's owner Charlie O. Finley, who changed the team's name to the California Golden Seals (itself a last-minute change from the announced "Bay Area Seals"), and introduced marketing gimmicks intended to sell the team to the fans, among them changing the Seals' colors to green and gold and (briefly) having them wear white skates, to match the style of the A's. However, this was all for naught, as the Seals finished with the worst record in the NHL that year. Earlier in the year, the Seals had traded their pick in the first round of the 1971 draft to the Montreal Canadiens along with Francois Lacombe in return of Montreal's first round pick and a veteran Ernie Hicke. As a result of the Seals' dreadful season, the Canadiens had the top pick in the draft, and used it to select future Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur. This transaction now ranks as one of the most one-sided deals in NHL history.

Montreal Royals Custom Fitted Cap

The Montreal Royals were a professional baseball team located in Montreal, Quebec, that existed from 1897-1917 and from 1928-60 as a member of the International League and its progenitor, the original Eastern League. The Royals are most famous as the top farm club (Class AAA beginning in 1946) of the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1939 to 1960.

Montreal Royals launched the baseball careers of Sparky Anderson, Gene Mauch, Roberto Clemente and the man who broke Major League Baseball's color barrier with the Royals in 1946, Jackie Robinson. Others Royals' players of note include Duke Snider, Don Drysdale, Chuck Connors, Walter Alston, Roy Campanella and the winningest pitcher in the history of the team, Tommy Lasorda.

The team holds a unique place in baseball history as being the first major-league affiliate to break the so-called "baseball color barrier", when the Brooklyn general manager and part-owner, Branch Rickey, signed Jackie Robinson, an African-American, on October 23, 1945. Robinson played with the Royals during the 1946 season.

Baltimore Skipjacks Custom Fitted Cap

The Baltimore Skipjacks were a minor professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They played in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Baltimore Arena.

The original Skipjacks team played one season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League during the 1981-82 season. The team was taken over by the Erie Blades for the 1982-83 season, playing in Baltimore as the Skipjacks. Coach Lou Angotti and sixteen players transferred from Erie to Baltimore. Tom Jacobs was the only player from the ACHL Skipjacks to remain on the AHL Skipjacks team.

Victoria Cougars Custom Fitted Cap

Formed in 1918 the Aristocrats, changed their name to the Victoria Cougars in 1922. Led by coach Lester Patrick, the Cougars would finally win a Stanley Cup in 1925 against the Montreal Canadiens. The Cougars were the last non-NHL team to hoist the Stanley Cup as well as the last west coast team to win the Cup, until the Anaheim Ducks won the Cup in 2007. They would attempt to repeat as champions in 1926 but they were unsuccessful as they lost the final series to the NHL's Montreal Maroons. The WHL dissolved the following year and the rights to many players from the Stanley Cup finalist team were purchased and relocated to Detroit, MI. The new NHL franchise would retain the nickname "Cougars" in tribute. The Detroit Cougars would later be re-named the Detroit Falcons, and would ultimately be re-named the Detroit Red Wings as they remain today.

1964 Vancouver Canucks ( WHL )

The Vancouver Canucks were a team in the minor professional Pacific Coast Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. The Canucks were founded in 1945, and left the league in 1970 to join the National Hockey League, along with fellow expansion team the Buffalo Sabres.

The logo is from the 1964 season of Canadian Hero Johnny Canuck.

1954 Marion Barons Custom Fitted

The Marion Barons were a minor league professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League during the 1953-54 season. The Barons were based in Marion, Ohio, played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and were a farm team of the Cleveland Barons. The Barons placed second in the league their only season, and featured four players who reached the National Hockey League; Armand Delmonte, Ott Heller, Johnny Ingoldsby and Tony Poeta.

Toledo Hornets Custom Fitted

The Toledo Hornets were the International Hockey League franchise of Toledo, Ohio from 1970 to 1974. Prior to 1970, the team was known as the Toledo Blades (1963-1970).
Following the 1973-74 season, the team name was changed to the Goaldiggers. The franchise moved to Kansas City, Missouri after the 1985-86 season.

Chicago Sting Custom Fitted Cap

The Chicago Sting (1975-1988) was an American professional soccer team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Sting played in the North American Soccer League from 1975 to 1984 and in the Major Indoor Soccer League from 1984 to 1988. They won the Soccer Bowl in 1981 and 1984. The best player in Sting's history was German Karl-Heinz Granitza, who played for the club from 1978 to 1988.
The Sting were founded in 1975 by Lee Stern of Chicago. A few years after founding the Sting, Stern brought Willy Roy on as head coach. Roy coached the Sting for the remainder of their outdoor existence.
The team was named in reference to the popular 1973 film, The Sting, whose action was set in Chicago of the 1930s.
The club played at various venues. The outdoor team spread their games around Soldier Field, Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park during their 10 years of operation. The indoor entry called both Chicago Stadium and the Rosemont Horizon (now the Allstate Arena) home.

New York Cosmos Custom Fitted

The New York Cosmos (1971–1985), known simply as the Cosmos for the 1977 and 1978 seasons, was a soccer franchise based in New York City and its suburbs that operated in the North American Soccer League from 1971 to 1984. Founded by brothers Ahmet and Nesuhi Ertegün as well as Warner Bros. President Steve Ross, it was one of the stronger NASL franchises, both athletically and financially. It became known around the world for signing the great Brazilian player Pelé who, though past his prime, was nonetheless one of the team's, and the league's, top gate draws during his tenure with the Cosmos. The NASL folded after the 1984 season, but the Cosmos attempted to operate as an independent team in 1985 before it ceased activity too.
